Who we are

Arken Bible Center is a non-denominational evangelical charismatic congregation and faith based ministry.
Arken is located north of Stock­holm, the capital of Sweden, and was founded in 1986 by its pastors Gunnar and Linda Bergling.

We received the calling from God to prepare a place for healing and restoration, a place where the weak and weary would receive salvation, new strength, freedom and joy from Jesus, and where believers would be equipped for the healing ministry.

Arken’s vision based on Ezekiel 34:16:
is to strengthen the weak,
heal those who are sick,
bind up the broken,
bring back what was driven away
and seek what is lost.
We want to treat people
with love and mercy.

At Arken everything centers around Jesus.
When we gather, our purpose is to truly express our love for Him and give Him the opportunity to equip us and send us all over the world to fulfill the vision he has given to us. In our services we spend much time in praise and worship, abiding in the presence of God, teaching the Word of God and ministering to people in prayer led by the Holy Spirit. We believe in the biblical healing ministry and prayer with the laying on of hands in Jesus name. With a focus on Jesus and His redemption, we minister healing of the body and soul.

Today the congregation has an extensive ministry that reaches out across the world. Arken is a center that serves locally, nationally and internationally in education, leadership training and mis­sions, with 40 employees and many volunteers working in the various areas of the ministry.

What we do

Ministry in Sweden and Scandinavia
Arken’s Bible School, ‘Jesus Heals and Restores’, gives a firm foundation in the Word of God, helps students establish a strong personal relationship with Jesus and provides practical experience in ministering to people in the power of the Holy Spirit. The school offers a 3-year training program and a 1-year program for personal healing and restoration.

Our Healing Center offers personal intercessory prayer, counseling, a telephone prayer line, Healing Days and instruction courses for prayer teams and intercessors. In addition, conferences and seminars with speakers from around the world are arranged every month. Twice a year we hold our extensive healing conference ‘Jesus Heals and Restores’ where pastors Gunnar and Linda Bergling – with a team of intercessors – minister to people in the healing anointing.

Arken Bible Center also has a media and TV production ministry, youth and children’s ministry, nursery school, publishing house and Christian health care company.

International ministry
Arken currently operates in 13 countries through 20 ongoing missions projects: building children’s homes, schools and clinics; supporting destitute children in slums; arranging pastors’ and leadership training seminars and Bible courses; and giving practical training in the biblical healing ministry. Our international ministry is built on longstanding personal relationships of transparency and trust with our partners.

Church of the Glory of God in Minsk is Arken’s daughter church in Belarus; and has the same vision of ministering healing and restoration. They offer a 1-year evening Bible School with the same concept as Arken.

In 2004 we sensed a calling from God to take the healing ministry to Israel. Since then, we have arranged several healing conferences in different parts of the nation.

Pastors

Pastor Gunnar Bergling is Senior Pastor at Arken Bible Center and one of the main teachers at the Bible school. He has been in full time pastoral ministry for over 50 years and has solid experience in counseling. His teaching is firmly founded in the Word of God; and has gained testimonies from many changed lives. Pastor Gunnar holds a Master of Theology from Uppsala University and a Doctor of Theology from Life Christian University, USA. He is the author of many books on themes including, ‘men and women together in ministry for God’. Dr Gunnar has a heart for helping and supporting pastors and leaders.

Pastor Linda Bergling is the founder and principal of the ‘Jesus Heals and Restores’ Bible school and Arken’s Healing Center. She is co-pastor at Arken Bible Center and has served in full time ministry for over 50 years. She is an appreciated Bible teacher and speaker all over the world.

Linda has a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Uppsala University and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Pastoral Counseling and a Master of Arts in Theology from Life Christian University, USA. She has dedicated her life to serving the Lord, not with human wisdom but through the power of Jesus Christ. She has authored many books on the subject of Biblical Healing.

Statement of faith

The Arken Church is a church believing in the Bible and which is deeply rooted in the classic Christian confession of faith.

  • We believe that Jesus is the Saviour of the world. We believe that all people can be saved and live a rich life as the followers of Jesus Christ. You who confess Jesus as Lord and Saviour are welcome to become a member in the Arken Church.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man.
  • We believe in the Bible as the inerrant Word of God.
  • We believe in one true God, which is the Trinity and eternal, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
  • We believe in the sacrifical death of Jesus Christ and his resurrection for redemption for all people in and through his blood.
  • We believe that all people need to be born again.
  • We believe that each one believing in the Saviour Jesus Christ need to get baptized in water.
  • We believe that the baptism in the Holy Spirit is a gift to all believers which gives power to live a Christian life and serve the Lord.
  • We believe that the Christian life is a life in obedience to the Word of God as we follow Christ.
  • We believe that Jesus is the only way to God.
  • We believe that the redeeming death of Jesus opens the door to forgiveness of sins, freedom and deliverance, healing from physical and mental diseases, and restoration of the personality.
  • We confess according to the Apostle’s Creed:
    • I believe in God the Father almighty, Maker of heaven and earth,
    • and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
      who was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary,
      who suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried,
      descended into hell, rose again from the dead on the third day,
      ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty,
      who will come again
      to judge the living and the dead.
    • I believe in the Holy Spirit,
      the holy Christian Church,
      the communion of saints,
      the forgiveness of sins,
      the resurrection of the body,
      and the life everlasting. Amen.
